Just a stone’s throw from Lyttelton Shopping Centre, you will find the Lyttelton Community Library and Art Gallery at 146 Union Ave.
Spektra Art Gallery have managed to fill this earthy colour face brick building with such a wide variety of eye-candy, you may battle to decide where to start appreciating the wonderful works of art on display.
As one has to understand that art is very personal and to have a preference of one artist's work over another does not make your choice better or worse but these are simply psychological connections to a style of expression or a choice of subjects combined with all the attributes of the work itself.
We visited this exhibition in a group and decided to mention a few outstanding artists based on our humble opinions. We found the works of Johan Kok, Ilse-Marie Briel, Tiens Palmer and Karin Smit worth mentioning without a doubt.
This exhibition is definitely worth a visit if you are remotely interested in the very inspiring work of artists that have many moons of experience.
Our only regret was not making it to the opening launch in order to meet the artists in person. Maybe next time...
