Bets de Bruyn

Bets de Bruyn has been a sculptor and artist for as long as she can remember and has participated in numerous exhibitions over the last 38 years since she became a serious artist. She is the winner of the Old Mutual Sculptor of the year in Centurion in 1988. She has art works in Seattle, Memphis, Round Hill Virginia, Florida and New York in the USA, in Australia, England, Belgium, Germany, Portugal and Italy.


In 2008 she moved to the Free state to enable her to devote all her time to art and to teach art to art lovers. She has lived in Ballito from April 2016, and moved back to Centurion
in Nov 2019, where she is currently presenting art lessons.

Bets brings neatly 40 years of experience to her art lessons. She has worked in ceramic clay, metal, Perspex, polyurethane foam, wood, and artist’s clay, wonder-stone and soapstone to create sculptures. She paints in oils and acrylic, and uses colour pencils, soft pastel, pencil and charcoal for drawings. She also uses mixed media and found objects in her paintings.


From 1985 to 1987 she was Chairman of the Centurion Art Society, in 1988 Vice Chairman. From 1985 to 1988 on the Executive Management of the SA Art Association. Honorary member of the Centurion Art Society.
