Artist Statement

Over the years myself working concepts have evolved into a stream of  ideas and a variety of discoveries conducted by a series of research methods. Each specific topic deals with its own constructive issues. Topics are then compiled or sum up  together in similarities, depicting forms of motion. Dealing with past, present and future experiences. Including time, space, distance, displacement, acceleration, velocity, speed and frame of reference. These concepts include decay, landscape ,architecture, post-colonial aspects, apocalypse, warfare,
documentation, migration and Emigration and human form.

My art making process have been about the usage of traditional medium in 2 dimensional surfaces or though over time one has experimented with 3 dimensional works not to forget tapping in to digital platforms. The artworks on their own have emerging current postmodern features and contemporary concepts.

In continuation  this exhibition at Spektra Art Gallery one would be dealing with landscape drawing series that depict, pareidolia “a psychological phenomenon that causes one to see patterns, objects, or meaning in things that are not there. It's a type of apophenia.” “ Which means the tendency to see patterns or connections between things that are actually unrelated. It's a type of cognitive bias that can lead to superstitions, delusions, and conspiracy theories.”  In this themed topic phrases such as post-colonial aspects, apocalypse and warfare arises. 5 – 6 art works are expected to be displayed representing the topics.

My previous concept display had to deal with migration called "Global Migration/Emigration" was considered where a focus on people immigrating to a better Habitat was captured. The focus was directed to 5 particular countries that suffered either political casualties or natural disasters. The works are presented in acrylic paint on canvas.  In this exhibition one framed A1 drawing and a touch of charcoal artwork is due to represent the topic. Which can be seen in our day to day headlines from a segregated socio-political stand point, mentioning
the struggle as a diaspora artist.

The Series was then named "Importance of Habitat" is a continuous themed body of work from the "Global Immigration/Emmigration" titled series, with most of the artworks named untitled reflexing the unknown whereabouts of the imagery and most importantly humans involved. Except this time I am looking at animal behavior. This topic which was eventually displayed and shown also cover issues named such as human form, documentation, warfare, post- colonial aspects and a touch of architecture. With a huge major focus on Migration, documentation, post- colonial and Emigration.

My third take on the body of work would be artworks specifically working with means of Symbiosis (Human- Animal Interaction HAI) conceptual theme. The process will have to do with symbiosis and Human Animal interaction where I will be looking at relationships between species and how they share their ecosystem. The relationship may be positive, negative or neutral. Three types of symbiosis are conceded; mutualism, commensalism and parasitism. Where humans behavior and animal interactions are conceded. This topic also covers means of documentation, landscape and migration. To represent this in visual practical's three A1 artworks are expected to be displayed.
